House of Representatives Recognize the Partnership of Douglas County Governments

DENVER—A resolution recognizing the 10th anniversary of the partnership of Douglas County Governments passed the House today with unanimous support.

The measure, sponsored in the House by Speaker Frank McNulty and Rep. Carole Murray, praises the coalition of local governments for its excellent work in serving the nearly 300,000 citizens who reside in Douglas County. Rep. Chris Holbert co-sponsors the resolution.

“The Partnership between Douglas County governments truly embodies the fundamental elements of a well-functioning democracy,” said McNulty, R-Highlands Ranch. “The dialogue and intimate interaction they generate between government and constituent is a model for all to follow.”

The mission of the Partnership is to build and maintain relationships, foster communication and share information among local government entities to help streamline the functions and services within government, which include cost savings, improved operations and services county-wide.

“I’m proud to live in Douglas County and to be affiliated with such an outstanding coalition,” added Murray, who resides in the town of Castle Rock—an inaugural member of the Partnership. “In ten years, this Partnership has matured into a paradigm for collaboration and responsible statesmanship.”

Beyond local and county governments, the Partnership of Douglas County also includes the county’s school district and library system as participating members.

“The monthly meetings this Partnership provides for play a vital role in Douglas County,” said Holbert, R-Parker. “Culturing understanding between local agencies promotes regional-specific solutions to our county’s unique problems.”

Sen. Mark Scheffel, R-Parker, and Sen. Ted Harvey, R-Highlands Ranch, sponsor the resolution in the Senate.
